Knock it off with the cute little hints about Reiner and Bertholdt, guys. Next week I start handing out bans to any manga readers in the anime thread. We asked nicely, we moved to a different system to make it blatantly obvious you're not allowed in there.
Sick of this shit. I'm gonna be looking at my Brother's face as soon as Reiner pulls Eren to the side and will just look at him for most of that scene.
I didn't even know who Reiner, Bertolt, and Ymir were when I first watched season 1. Now, they all seem pretty badass and interesting. One of my friends is an anime-only dude and told me he thinks Reiner is the armored titan because they have the exact same hair. When I was watching at first I saw the connection with the hair but dumbly assumed two people can't have the same hair.
I was surprised when it was revealed. A lot of people who are clearly manga readers are ruining that thread and essentially posting spoilers and links that could only be made once you've read up to a point that the Anime is nowhere near.
I'm seeing people write things in detail about the type of fish, language, how Ymir might be old, etc etc. But they're things you'd have never linked otherwise. That said, that comment was the least spoilery of all of them. Still a bit mean but at least it's not laying out the groundwork for major spoilers, just further helping the story because at the moment there's a lot of foreshadowing but it's being more portrayed as Reiner becoming a better solider, not well you know.
I just hope it's the right thing to do. Last episode we had the same thing, people posting "hypothesis" and "speculation" which was identical to the manga. Deleting it confirms it was spoilers, leaving it leaves spoilers up for people to see without realizing it's attack on titan s2 score gelgar s and nanaba s death spoiler. It's a slippery slope. If we can catch them soon enough, then they can be considered removed without anyone noticing.
I kinda get what he's saying though, Reiner at this point does seem like the kind of outwardly noble guy without some kind of tragic chip on his shoulder. But, ChristNanaba's death. Did her dad like The mere idea that she might have once been a defenseless, helpless child repeatedly hurt by someone bigger and stronger than she was is heartbreaking.
Perhaps that's why she wanted to join the SC in the first place? To defend others who were too weak to fight back? Nanaba's manga death was already sad for me; her anime death takes the sadness to another level.
The part about her father wasn't in the manga. I wonder if that was a change that Isayama requested? I also want more Nanaba backstory or flashbacks.
I really want a Nanaba spin off with backstory. For such a minor character, damn she was intriguing as all hell. My only quibble and seriously it's tiny with this episode was that ymir didn't look nearly as annoyed at conny for dismissing her injury and ruining her chance for attention from Christa. In the manga she looked at him like "Really? Bahahaha in the manga Ymir looks at Conny like he just reminded the teacher that she didn't ask for everyone to turn in their homework right before the bell rings.
Yeah Nanaba's dying words were pretty fucked up Either that didn't happen in the manga or I don't remember it, and I feel like I'd remember that. Way to make a hard death to read even harder to watch. Back when I read this part in the manga for the first time I thought the the Beast titan wasn't a shifter but the descendant of the original titan who I assumed wasn't human at all.
And that he roared because of his primal instincts. That was my exact initial reaction to Beast. His little chat with Mike just seemed like he wasn't familiar with humans. He just didn't know about the 3D Gear. Was waiting years on this. So bizarre and awesome to see it animated. Loved bits with Ymir her laugh was hysterical and the Reiner foreshadowing. We got our Connie joke and gay joke. We got a great battle. We got Reiner being a hero and his backstory.
We got sweet moments between Ymir and Christa. We got Ymir reveal! This was a good episode. I dont understand why Reiner is considered to have a split personality. Can you explain it to me, please? When he's in his soldier persona, he doesn't seem to remember his past being a warrior, sent to destroy the humanity within the walls and thinks he's just a soldier of the th. I'm not sure though how often he switches between his 'warrior' and 'soldier' personas or what he remembers after switching.
There's a scene coming up that totally cleared up for me what people mean when they say he has a split personality. It raises many questions for me though, during that whole episode in the abandoned castle, what was the plan for bertholdt and reiner?
I don't think Bert and Reiner were aware that Zeke was coming in with this attack. As a result, they may have been worried that them shifting may interfere with Zeke's plan, so they didn't want to risk it and reveal their identity unless they absolutely needed to.
Likewise, I don't think Zeke had any way of knowing Reiner and Bertholdt were there in the castle. He knew people were there, but not who.
